The principal goal of Neue Galerie New York is to make the best of early twentieth-century German and Austrian culture available to new audiences, for both scholarly and aesthetic inquiry.
Educational guided tours are tailored to meet the needs and interests of each participating school group, and focus on Neue Galerie New York’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. While museum policy notes that children under 12 years old are not admitted during regular hours, special accommodations are available to school groups at 9:15 a.m. School group visits may be scheduled every day except Tuesday.
Reservations must be arranged at least three weeks in advance.
Offered Times and Rates
The Neue Galerie schedules School Tours at the below listed times and rates:
Monday and Wednesday–Sunday
Regular Hours for up to 10 persons: 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 4 p.m.
Regular Hours for up to 15 persons: 5 p.m.
Private Hours for up to 20 persons: 9:15 a.m.
Docent fee of $150 (Regular Hours) or $200 (Private Hours) plus admission per person. Admission rates are listed here.
Please note
School Tours are not offered on Tuesdays, as the Neue Galerie is closed.
School Tours for children under 12 must be scheduled for the 9:15 a.m. time slot. The Neue Galerie tailors educational programs for young children to access the galleries, including School Visits and Family Mornings. Children under 12 are not admitted to the galleries during regular hours.
Groups of 8 guests or more wishing to visit the museum without a docent should reserve Group Tickets for a self-guided visit. Please be aware outside lecturers and third-party tour operators are not permitted to address groups in the building.
Larger School Tours may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis by splitting the group into two concurrent tours. Two docents would be required and two docent fees would apply.
School Tour reservations do not include dining reservations at Café Sabarsky. Guests are seated on a first-come, first-served basis for breakfast and lunch. Submission of this form will provide us with the pertinent information needed to assess staffing and scheduling considerations and allows us to best answer any questions regarding your visit. No payment is required to submit a tour request. Your submission will be processed in the order in which it was received and confirmed by e-mail within two weeks or less.
