In 1919, the program of the State Bauhaus school in Weimar promised a modern education for the talented, regardless of age and gender, which drew many young women to apply. The Bauhaus-Girl ("Bauhausmädel") Type, described in a January 1930 issue of the magazine Die Woche, knew what she wanted and would succeed.
