Germany at the dawn of the Great Depression: Bon vivants Willy, Kurt, and Hans discover they are broke and must work for the first time in their lives. Using the proceeds from selling their car, the trio buys a petrol station where the enchanting Lilian Coßmann not only becomes their most loyal customer, but also sweetens their everyday work leading all three to fall in love with her.

Enthusiastically received by audiences upon its release in 1930, Die Drei von der Tankstelle / Three from the Filling Station represents the success of the musical genre in the early sound era of cinema. This film was one of Weimar cinema’s most commercially successful entries and remained popular despite a later screening ban by the National Socialist film examination board. Hits such as "Ein Freund, ein guter Freund" are still unforgettable.
