Koloman Moser: Designing Modern Vienna 1897-1907

Neue Galerie New York will present a monographic exhibition devoted to the Austrian artist, designer, and Wiener Werkstätte co-founder Koloman Moser (1868-1918). This show surveys the sum of Moser’s decorative arts career, comprising important interior design commissions, examples of graphic design, furniture, textiles, jewelry, metalwork, glass, and ceramics, many of which are illustrated by rare preparatory drawings and prints.

Kandinsky and the Total Work of Art: From Blaue Reiter to the Bauhaus

Vasily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a transformational figure in the history of modern art. Alongside his development of a revolutionary abstract style, Kandinsky demonstrated an ambition to go beyond conventional easel painting. This exhibition charts how the artist’s large paintings with musical and theatrical associations from the Blaue Reiter years developed into large-scale Bauhaus environments. The artist’s 1922 Juryfreie murals will be re-created for the exhibition, enabling visitors to “walk inside” a Kandinsky painting.
